new song challenge meme - featuring tori amos

so, tori's got a new album coming out here next month, and she's got a tour happening in europe & north america in november and december.  i had a very dear friend score us tickets for the show in texas, on the WINTER SOLSTICE ... i'm over the moon. terribly excited. almost in tears when i read the back-story behind the songs on the new album. everything feels so amazing about this album, and i'm inching closer to hitting a few other goals (seeing tori again and finally meeting/speaking to her).

so, to sort of celebrate, i'm doing this tori meme ... i'll lump some things together and space them out every few days - which will also give you, dear reader, time to assimilate and not get tori-overload (as if there's such a thing ... pshaw!)

so here we go

Day 01: The song that introduced you to Tori Amos

cornflake girl. i remember exactly how it happened too - i was sitting on the bus with heather, going to a football game or something band nerdy like that. she had the cornflake girl single, and i was fascinated by the lady on it. she was so otherworldly and beautiful and magical. i had fallen in love! and now, something like 16 or 18 years later, i still am. heather was nice enough to let me commandeer her discman & headphones for the trip up (we lived in the boonies, so i remember it being a long bus ride) and then i pestered her all the way home to learn more about this tori amos character.




this has got to be one of the best performances of the song EVER. her little dance at the beginning is adorably and oddly mesmerizing.

and so begins a wonderful tori-quest! i'm excited to have y'all on this journey with me. :D
